Jak Update

It...

is...

DONE!

Yay, so I'm going to send this out either tomorrow or the next day.

Now it's time to start on my behemoth.  I just separated all the threads into my cereal box "caddy" that I made this afternoon.  Look!

After weighing it, it was 11.73 ounces.  So...about 3/4 of a pound.  That's a lot of thread.  I'm starting the first page and I will be updating soon :)  I figure one page between each of my projects gives me time to work on this AND the other things that I'm stitching.  That way this one doesn't discourage me so much because I have a feeling that might happen.  Not like it matters, I just ordered another giant one to decorate my daughter's room.

I am off to start, so happy stitching, everyone!

Jak II WIP: Page 3 is DONE

I've been pretty slow going the last few days because my in-laws were visiting.  Amazingly enough all the stuff I was worried about didn't happen.  It was *gasp* a pleasant visit.  I was not prepared for that.  They left yesterday morning and my son was not happy.

So today I have a WIP because I finished page 3 last night around midnight.

Not much more, and my last page only has a few color changes, so I should breeze through it and be able to send it off next week some time.  Daxter is so cute.

I have help today doing my stitching.  My Little Miss decided she needed to monitor my progress:

She's not good at stitching, but she's sure good at preventing ME from stitching.  Well, I'm off to start on the many black stitches on the last page of Jak, so happy stitching, everyone!

EDIT:  I just bought THIS.  I think I have a problem.

The Things You See Online

I just found a listing on Bookoo (for those who don't know what Bookoo is, think Craigslist) for someone looking to adopt out their triplets.  Now a few things went through my head when I saw this.

The first thing I thought was, "Hahaha, someone's making a joke about those people who don't have time for their pets (which is common)."  Then I actually read the post and the second thing went through my mind was, "How heartbreaking!  Who would do that to their child!?"  Then I thought about it for a bit and I also had this thought, "Maybe this is a mother with PPD who has no idea how to get help."

Any way you look at this, the situation is just sad.

Loot Crate May 2014

Loot Crate's here!  But first!!!    Look what else came todaaaaaaaaay!

I would have more pictures but in my excitement I unboxed it and did not take any.  I would take more pictures right now except it's 2030 and my kids are in bed...and my kit is in the room with my daughter.  I can say this, though:  The threads are so soft I thought I was going to cry.  The directions are very simple, the canvas is about 6 inches shorter than me, and the colors are so bright.

SEGUE!

This month's Loot Crate theme was "Adventure."  My husband decided he wanted to be in one of the pictures, so here it is:

There's his super tan hand!  You see that?  That's his hand.  He pitched a fit because I don't include him in any of my "unboxings" so I told him he could do the first picture.  My dorky husband.

So I opened it up and this was my first view.  Immediately I said, "Yay, another Loot Crate shirt!"  Because that's my favorite thing to get.  Immediately I knew the shirt was also my favorite Hylian from my favorite game series.

Here's the spread panned out a bit so you can see what everything is:

Within this crate was an Adventure Time character, a Minecraft charm (keyring?), the Friend Zone soundtrack, two sticker sheets, a tattoo sheet, my Loot Crate membership card, a Legend of Zelda bottle opener keyring, my monthly Loot Crate button, and then the T-shirt.

Close up of the key ring:

It says, "It's dangerous to go alone!  Take this."  With Link holding up the Loot Crate symbol.

The Adventure Time character I got was a Zombie Finn.  I went to move his arm and it fell off, so...that was sad.  It went back together alright, but I had that momentary panic where I thought I broke him already.  Then we opened the Minecraft one and we got a CREEPER which was what I was really hoping for.

Don't mind the sideways picture.  My phone is drunk.

That tin made my day.  My toddler stole it and is using it to store his toy cars.

I know I got a pretty good picture of the t-shirt I got in one of the previous photos, but here's a full sized picture anyway!  I love this shirt and I am so glad that I got it.  I adore The Legend of Zelda (I even have a tattoo!), so I'm happy.

Today was a good day.

Jak II WIP: IT'S DAXTER!

I finally got to Daxter!

He looks awful happy lol.  I love this game and I'm so happy that this is looking good.  I was getting worried there for a minute when Daxter looked like he was going to blend in with the background.  I think it's looking good, though!

SEGUE

I've been playing Oracle of Seasons.  A lot.  When it came out, I wasn't allowed to get it because my mother already bought it for my brother.  He mysteriously "lost" it every time I wanted to play.  So I have never played it before now.  I also downloaded Oracle of Ages because of the same reason.  Thank God for Nintendo e-shop.

I'm getting a new tattoo soon.  I want the Silent Hill Halo of the Sun on my arm.  My husband suggested I get that as part of a sleeve.  I'm a little obsessed with the game...so...I mean, it wouldn't be the first (or second) video game tattoo I've got.

Well, this was all over the place.  Time to go make lunch and then get the kids ready for nap time.  Happy stitching, everyone.

Yep, it's gonna be a good day.

I ordered a shirt from Inked Shop---this one:

This is a long sleeved thermal shirt.  I tried it on and I am in LOVE.  I've been working on losing weight and this shirt was supposed to be my "goal shirt" because it's a large and I used to be a 2XL.  The actual size is like anywhere else's medium (I compared it to my other medium shirts).  So that means I've dropped even more than I thought!  I'm so happy!

I did, however, order this shirt when it was still cold and it's just now getting to me.  There was an error in their warehouse and so it took a little extra time, but after trying it on, I don't even care.

What a Long Day

Today was so stressful.  I don't know what was in the air today, but my son decided that he was going to be a brat all day.  He was yelling and telling me to shut up.  He was sent to his room on many an occasion for hitting his sister or myself.  If I hadn't already told my friend that we'd be at the splash park, we wouldn't have gone.  We actually left early because I told him to get off something, so he smacked me and told me to shut up.

I got down on his level, grabbed him by the shoulders and said, "Now you look at me.  You do not ever hit your mother, I don't care how much I make you angry.  We're going home."  He acted like I was bluffing, but when he saw me strapping his sister into the stroller, he started crying.  I put him in his side of the stroller and we went home.  He cried the whole way home, but it needed to be done.  I'm not going to let him think he runs this show.

I don't know where he learned to say, "Shut up," but I'm going to find out and nip it.  I won't put up with that.  Before bed he hugged me and told me he loved me (he doesn't do that on his own), so I think he understood that he was being bad today.

UGH kids are so frustrating!  He's always so well behaved, but today, he just...wasn't.  I guess every kid has a day like that, but boy did I want to smack him one lol

It's the Final Countdown (cue Europe)

One week until doomsday.  Yes, one week until the in-laws are here.

God, please, if you're there, I just, I...I...ugh...SAVE ME!

There is ONE thing for me to look forward to.  My cross stitch kit that I ordered just hit US customs, so it should be here either immediately before or during their visit.  I'm super excited about that.  Not to mention my shirt that I ordered will be here in a couple days as well!

Jak will probably have an update tomorrow because I have about 2 more inches left on the second half of the pattern, then it's getting washed and shipped off.  I'm hoping to be done soon, I'm sooooo close!

Ugh, I'm stressing, this was just a way to keep my mind busy for a minute.  Off to go check on my daughter because I hear her squawking behind the couch like she's found something really interesting (and I wanna know what it is).  Last time it was a tarantula...seriously.

Happy stitching, everyone!

An Update Before Bed

I promised myself I would only stitch until 2230 tonight.  I always tell myself that I will stop at a certain time each night and I never ever listen to myself.  Every night I tell myself 2230 and every night I am up until midnight.  Without fail.

My new show of choice to stitch to is Bob's Burgers.  I've watched every episode probably 50+ times.  Not even exaggerating.  I adore this show and have found something new to laugh at every time I watch it.

Well, the reason for posting tonight is this:

Here's the WIP of Jak. I feel like I work slower when there are a lot of color changes.  I love that you can finally see Daxter!  He's really starting to take shape.

My husband doesn't know what to get me for my birthday.  Oh yeah, my birthday is in a month!  So I told him to buy me PC-stitch or KG-chart.  I don't care which one as I've used both now and neither seems better than the other to me.  They both get the job done lol.

I saw a pattern the other day that said, "Goest and fucketh thyself," and it had been shared by Kat Von D on Facebook.  So I stuck it in my pattern file for upcoming projects.  I'll probably make it for my sister because she likes stuff like that.

Alrighty, I'm off to bed.  It's almost midnight.  Happy stitching, everyone!

Happy Double Housework Day!

Yesterday was Mother's Day (Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there) and today is what I like to call Double Housework Day.  Now, the reason I call it that is because even though my husband cleaned the house which I am grateful for and he cooked dinner last night, he usually uses about 3 times as many pans and dishes as I do when I cook for Thanksgiving.  It's only because he's inexperienced in cooking, but that's fine.  We all started somewhere, right?  Dinner was good though.

We found another wind scorpion in the house, so I am cleaning and vacuuming all the rooms today so that the pest control people can come out and spray for these things.  See, I don't understand why the housing company made the carpets out here the same color as the scorpions, centipedes, and spiders.  Makes it awful hard to see them when they're crawling towards me...on...the...floor...*shudder*  I hate bugs.

I'm enjoying my coffee right now while I wait for my toilet to "phantom flush" again.  I think I have a leak, so I added food coloring to my tank in case it doesn't fill enough to flush.  I have to check on it in about one cup of coffee.  Then I get to go spend what...a dollar?  On this part to fix it.  I haven't done plumbing work in years (not since I was 16), so it's probably more expensive.

Well, I'm going to probably go do a load of dishes and then put away the mountain of clothing that I didn't do yesterday.  I mean it's a literal mountain.  The pile is taller than me.  I'm five feet tall.  I did all the laundry yesterday, but putting it away is just so much more tedious than any other household chore for me.  I would rather do dishes all the time than have to fold and put away clothes.

Alright, I'm off for real this time.  Maybe a new Jak update later today or tomorrow sometime.  Happy stitching, everyone!

Jak II update and a little off topic

So I've written a post again and again, yet I've deleted it each time.  I guess it's because I don't want to throw my in-laws under the bus.  Here's the gist of what's happening:  My in-laws are coming to visit and I'm getting really anxious about it.

I just now wrote an entire four paragraph vent and deleted it.  So I will just sit here and feel stressed out.  Maybe I'll play a video game to take my mind off things or something.  UGH!

SEGUE!

Here's an update on Jak!  Here is what I have so far, well, here's what I had 3 days ago!

I've made considerable progress since then.  I am plugging along on it as quickly as I can.  I need to finish at least this one so it can be shipped off.  My second square will be started immediately after this one's done so with any luck I will have two sent in.

Alrighty, I am off to stitch and maybe play Jak II because the square is making me feel nostalgic for the game.  Happy stitching, everyone!

Halfway There!

I'm really praying that I make it in time, I feel like I'm falling behind with this Jak square.  I'm halfway done as of last night, though!  Here it is so far:

I really want to do a bigger version of this for myself and have it more detailed because this is one of my favorite pictures.  This and then of course there's this one:

I would love to do that picture as a pixelhobby image.

Speaking of Pixelhobby, I just created a Majora's Mask pattern.  I went to order supplies and apparently the size of this thing is a bit much because it was $206 dollars.  That's fine, I'll just save up my money until I can buy it.  Meanwhile the pattern is tucked away in my "completed patterns" folder on my little Toshiba.

I was just thinking, my KG-Chart is good for pattern making, but the largest you can do is 100 x 100 stitches.  The thing I'm wondering is why am I able to create larger patterns in my older, non-updated version?  My little netbook has the KG-Chart from 2012, but this Toshiba has the most recent version and in my older one, I can do up to 500 x 500 stitches.  Just seems odd to me, is all.  Guess all my larger patterns will be made on my little, slow netbook.

Alright, I'm off to continue stitching.  If I keep stitching at the pace I'm going, I might have another WIP tomorrow.  Happy stitching, everybody!

That's Gonna Be Huge

I'm so sorry that I asked someone where she ordered her cross stitch kit because now I've been browsing the site forever and lusting after every kit I come across.  For Mother's Day, my husband ordered me a particularly beautiful kit that I posted to my facebook.  This is the kit HERE

The size of this thing is 2.3 x 4.5 feet.  It's pretty huge.  It's pretty gorgeous.  Here's the picture of this huge endeavor I'm about to embark on:

UHHHHHHHH!!!!  (in my best Tina Belcher impression)

I'm so intimidated but look how beautiful that is!  I'll definitely be reviewing this one and probably never buying another kit until it's done lol

Okay, here's an update on Jak!...nowhere near as exciting now, to me...

Alright, I'm off to finish Jak and then probably order my supplies for my second square for SpriteStitch :)  Happy stitching, everyone!
